Senior Software Developer

Job Description

Cog in a machine? Tired of contract work? Are you ready to take a senior role in the development department of a successful software company?

Located in Scottsdale, Arizona, our 40-yr old privately owned software development firm is seeking a talented, seasoned, full stack developer looking for a long term home and a relaxed environment to help lead our team. The company develops food and beverage management and procurement software for use by the foodservice industry and has thousands of clients around the world. We are a Microsoft shop (certified partner), and offer both a cloud-based hosted solution as well as in-house licensed solutions for our clients. Our system also makes extensive use of mobile technologies, such as Android-based laser scanners and smartphone apps using AngularJS under Cordova.

The Senior Engineer position involves participating in the design and leading the development of code for new versions and modules, and coordination with subcontractors working on specific coding projects as well as handling escalations from our support department. Since our code has evolved over 4 decades, we have many technologies represented. The older code is written using VB6, ASP, and ASP.NET and our latest components are written in a combination of .NET Core Web API and ReactJS, all using MS-SQL and stored procedures as the database engine. Although all new development is done in current languages, the ideal candidate must be able to understand and modify the VB6 code (for support purposes), and lead the effort to convert the older code to newer languages.

Unlike working for large programming shops or developing for in-house users, this position is ideal for the developer who wants to make a mark, and see their work used by thousands of people every day to manage their foodservice operations. It is also ideal for the developer who wants a comfortable, supportive environment with top equipment and tools. And finally, it is ideal for the developer looking for a place to stay, without fear of buyouts, downsizing or politics getting in the way.

Depending on experience and skill level with required languages, we offer salaries starting at $80,000 to well over $100,000. The company offers health insurance, flexible hours and profit-sharing. Connections from home via VPN are also available as needed.

Required technical proficiency (at least 3 years experience): ASP.NET with C# or VB.NET, HTML, Javascript, MS-SQL, Stored Procedures, familiarity with VB6 and classic ASP, Windows development experience (including creating installers and IIS deployments). Some experience is required with any modern front end framework (Angular, ReactJS, Vue.JS, etc.)

Tools: Visual Studio, Git, JIRA

Applicant must presently reside in the Phoenix area.
